US Senate committee approves sanctions against Russian state debt
MOSCOW, Dec 19 (PRIME) -- The U.S. Senate’s committee for foreign affairs has approved a bill introducing sanctions against Russian state debt, the banking and energy sectors, a representative told PRIME on Thursday.
The Senate at large shall consider the bill. If it passes, it will be submitted to the House of Representatives and then to the president.
Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said earlier that borrowing will not become an issue in conditions of U.S. sanctions on the Russian state debt because Russia can borrow at home.
